We use a stretch of the River Bovey that runs through the grounds of Bovey Castle Hotel.

A considerable amount of work has been carried out to open up this delightful Dartmoor stream which holds wild brown trout as well as the occassional salmon and sea trout.

It consists of a mix of runs, pools and shallow riffle sections suitable for fishing with a dry fly or nymph.

This is fishing in miniature but none the worse for that. Bring a seven to eight foot rod and think 'roll cast'.

Creep upstream. Forget about overhead casts.

We meet clients outside Bovey Castle Hotel's Activities HQ. This is located on your right hand side after you have driven past the fountain outside the main entrance door of the hotel and then through an archway. If you arrive early you are more than welcome to take tea or coffee in the hotel.
