- The day begins with an introduction by
Martin to his Harris hawk, dogs and ferrets
that will be your hunting companions
- You will be taught the basics of how to handle
a hawk in a way that is safe to both you and the bird
- Then we will
move on to 15,000 acres of hunting grounds set within
the heart of Dartmoor National
Park
- Our quarry is mainly rabbits and pheasants (in
season)
- you will get to see the incredible ability of
the hawk as
it strives to do what it was evolved for and catch its own quarry
|
After a leisurely lunch Paul
and Geoff will show you how
to use the fur of a rabbit and the feather of a pheasant to make two
classic trout flies:
- the Gold-Ribbed Hare's Ear
- and the Pheasant Tail
|
|
In the afternoon Geoff and Paul
will help you pit your
wits with your fly against:
- the wild brown trout of a Dartmoor river
(in season)
- or brown and rainbow trout on an
exclusive
stocked stillwater (all year round)
